Title: Steinbock

The Alpine ibex nearly vanished from this earth entirely. Hunted to the edge of extinction, it was saved only by careful protection and reintroduction in Switzerland. I see them sometimes on the high trails, completely still against the rock face, looking out over a world that almost lost them. This painting is about that; the quiet dignity of an animal that survived.
