Title: Chandelier of Corniglia

I was "enlightened" by this chandelier hanging from a tree above the sea in Corniglia, its crystals catching the light where no chandelier should ever hang. My friend had rescued it, old and slightly rusted, and given it a second life outdoors instead of in a landfill. I felt envy and captivation in the same breath. Something so formal and indoor, retired now to salt air, sun, and the sound of cicadas. I wanted to paint that contradiction, an old and beautiful object saved in a strange and beautiful way, still catching light long after its first life ended.
