I was in Etar, Bulgaria and I looked up and I could not move. Blue of that particular shade that only exists in certain light in certain countries, and the old wooden shutters had been opened and closed so many times. The wood had its own entire history in the grain. I wanted to buy this house. I could not. So I painted it and brought it home instead.
